This Belief Grows Our Child’s Anxiety or OCD (and ours too)
This video is for educational purposes only and is not intended to replace the guidance of a qualified professional.
There are so many things we want to control in our lives. None of us want to die, get sick, get rejected, get judged, get hurt. None of us want to be overwhelmed with feelings of hurt, harm, embarrassment or disgust. None of us want to second guess our actions, behaviors or future.
Anxiety and OCD can take advantage of those fears. It can convince us that we are able to control those things. It can convince us that if we just do or avoid certain things our world will remain calm.
But that very belief can wreak havoc in our world. It can put us on a hamster wheel of “doing and avoiding” to control our world. It can put us in the past and future and steal us from the present. It can lie to us and tell us as long as we stay on the hamster wheel nothing bad will happen.
In this week’s Youtube video I talk about how our belief around control can grow anxiety and OCD and what is helpful instead.
